Poll claims this is the sexiest accent in the world
Poll claims this is the sexiest accent in the world Poll claims this is the sexiest accent in the world A global poll of 1.5 million people from 60 different countries, conducted by Big 7 Travel, determined, once and for all which accent is the most alluring. Unfortunately, thereâs been a bit of controversy surrounding the way the whole thing shook out.Yes, all the classic favorites made the Top 10, but according to the poll results, the official sexiest accent in the world is the one used by the rock monster-alien from Thor Ragnarok, played by director Taika Waititi, and Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson. The authors of the poll report, âTo a novice ear, the New Zealand accent might sound just like the Australian accent, but Big 7 Travel readers disagree. The âNewzildâ dialect is outrageously charming.âFollow Ladders on Flipboard!Follow Laddersâ magazines on Flipboard covering Happiness, Productivity, Job Satisfaction, Neuroscience, and more!Obvious choices like Italian and French accents both made appearances in the Top 10, each claiming the number four and seven spots respectively.Although not many people find regular olâ American accents particularly desirable, a good deal of voters expressed an affinity for a slow southern drawl. Coming in at number nine, was the Southern U.S. accent, the kind you mind find in residents of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, or Kentucky.Rounding out the Top 10 was the Brazilian Portuguese accent, which, again makes perfect sense.âThe least popular Slavic languageâ â" the Croatian accent â" came in at the bottom of the Top 50 list. Some of the others that bottomed the list were the Romanian accent, the Pakistani accent, German accents, Thai and New York accents, described as âfast and hypernasal.â If you belong to one of these regions and are a little âverrgertâ youâre not alone. The days following the release of Big 7âs report has been tailed by a bit of backlash. For example this tweet:This Twitter userâs response wa s a bit more nuanced:And, unsurprisingly, some of New Zealandâs neighbors didnât take the news well:The problem might have a lot to do with poor public relations. Most of the Kiwis famous to Americans are famous in a strictly comedic context (though singing sensation Lorde has managed to capture a large American audience.)Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Concords for instance and Waititi are truly three of the funniest minds to debut in the last few years, though they donât exactly spring casanova to mind. Thereâs this reserved silliness attached to them. But if you extract the very same accent and observe it in a non-comedian, maybeâ youâll feel differently. Or maybe you wonât.You might also enjoy⦠New neuroscience reveals 4 rituals that will make you happy Strangers know your social class in the first seven words you say, study finds 10 lessons from Benjamin Franklinâs daily schedule that will double your productivity The worst mistakes you can make in an interview, according to 12 CEOs 10 habits of mentally strong people
